AWARD STATISTICS??

The chart below shows the manufacturer’s name, the model year and the model of each vehicle that was the subject of CAMVAP arbitration. Complaints are classified into nine different classifications. More information on these classifications can be found in the annual report. In some cases, the chart will show multiple complaint classifications. The award section sets out the result of the hearing.

CAMVAP arbitrators can make one or more of the following type of awards.

• Repairs – the manufacturer is required to repair the consumer’s vehicle at its expense; reimburse the consumer for repairs that have already been paid for by the consumer;
• Buyback – the manufacturer is required to repurchase the consumer’s automobile in accordance with the formula set out in the CAMVAP Agreement for Arbitration;
• Reimburse Repairs – the manufacturer is required to pay the consumer for the cost of repairs that have already been done to the vehicle at the consumer’s expense;
• Out of Pocket Expense – the manufacturer is required to pay the consumer for up to $1,000 out of pocket expenses for taxis, towing, accommodation or diagnostic testing;
• Other Consent Award – the consumer and the manufacturer agreed “on consent” to a solution that is not contained within the Agreement for Arbitration. The arbitrator has made the agreement between the parties the award;
• No Liability – the consumer’s case did not prevail and there is no liability or responsibility on behalf of the manufacturer for the problems that were arbitrated;
• No Jurisdiction – the arbitrator has found through the evidence and information at a hearing that he or she does not have the jurisdiction or authority to hear the matter brought forward by the consumer.
